Dynamics 365 Copilot in practical use:

Intelligent chat assistant for daily tasks:
Example Sales processes: The Copilot assists with information searches, drafts emails and offers based on existing data, analyzes lead management, and provides recommendations for action based on customer behavior. The time savings for repetitive and administrative tasks are immediately noticeable, and less information is lost.

Dynamics 365 Copilot in Sales

Integrative tool for process optimization:
Example Production planning: Thanks to AI-based support, data-driven insights can be immediately incorporated into the process, e.g., to avoid idle times or bottlenecks. Automated reporting saves time and helps to comply with legal requirements and business KPIs, as well as providing various stakeholders with the necessary information.

Dynamics 365 Copilot in Supply Chain Management

Basis for individual AI agents:
Example Marketing: Based on a target group analysis and a specified marketing strategy, an AI agent is able to carry out a campaign largely independently: from personalized communication with potential customers to answering questions and sending information material to individual offers. The responsible marketing or sales expert only needs to intervene in a controlling capacity or when personal contact makes a difference.

Rule-based compliance implementation:
Example Financial management: Core processes such as accounts payable and financial reporting are subject to numerous formalities and legal regulations. The AI assistant checks during the ongoing process whether all requirements are being met, points out irregularities or contradictions, and makes recommendations on what to do or how to improve. In addition, AI-supported reporting in the various required formats can be created faster and with higher quality and consistency.

FAQ about Microsoft Dynamics 365 Copilot

What functions does Dynamics 365 Copilot have? Copilot is integrated into Dynamics 365 and offers specific AI-based functions for each application. For example, Copilot for Sales helps you forecast sales trends, prepare for customer meetings, and draft emails based on CRM data. Copilot for Finance can automatically check data and accounting transactions for completeness and legal compliance. Dynamics 365 Copilot thus improves and extends existing ERP and CRM functionalities.

Dynamics 365 Copilot is not available “out of the box.” Some Dynamics 365 Enterprise licenses include basic AI features, but add-ons are required for the full range of AI functionality. In addition, not all features are available in all regions yet. Have your license checked by Microsoft Customer Support or a certified IT service provider such as Sycor and seek advice on any necessary adjustments.

In addition to the appropriate license and the latest release of Dynamics 365 and Power Platform components, the AI assistant primarily requires a Microsoft cloud environment, as it uses the Azure OpenAI Service. The system configuration must also be adjusted to activate the AI functions.

Microsoft has created all the conditions necessary for Dynamics 365 Copilot to be used in a legally compliant manner. However, it is the responsibility of companies to take measures relevant to data protection and data security. In addition to the GDPR, the EU AI Act, which classifies AI applications into risk categories and sets corresponding requirements for transparency and security, must be observed. When introducing AI-based technologies, data protection aspects should be treated as a high priority.

The concept of autonomous systems describes the fundamental idea of allowing applications such as ERP or CRM systems to operate largely independently in the future. Thanks to artificial intelligence, automated workflows, and self-learning systems, processes are optimally orchestrated depending on the situation and the results of data analyses—with only minimal human intervention. Further developments are still needed before this can be implemented in a meaningful way. AI strategies that focus on humans as controllers and designers are currently proving to be particularly beneficial.
