Sycor. Balancing change and consistency.

September 7, 2022

# Every company’s digital transformation has to happen at the individual level.
# Göttingen-based IT company focuses on the people behind the technology.
# Ottobock subsidiary to celebrate 25th anniversary next year.

IT has been a highly dynamic market for many years due to the digital transformation – and the same trends are affecting the market for IT services. Specialist service providers in this sector, such as Sycor, have to maintain their technological edge at all times and have a pinpoint understanding of their own customers and the specific IT challenges they face.

“These factors make our job a very clear one. We have to be continually capable of changing ourselves, and we have to actively shape the digital transformation. At the same time, and quite rightly, customers and employees expect there to be consistency in the way we work together. In other words, transformation and consistency are by no means a contradiction at Sycor but rather two key components of our success,” explains Thomas Ahlers, CEO of the Sycor Group.

“Our vision is to help our customers open up the potential of modern technologies so people can benefit from them. We see ourselves as a trusted advisor who uses the right solution to help customers boost their competitive edge,” adds Guido Lindlar, a highly experienced sales expert who took over the role of Chief Sales Officer (CSO) on the Sycor management team in July.

“Sycor is a dynamic company, and this is exactly what impressed me about it. Digitalization has to help people and do so in a way that makes the benefits ready apparent as well as achievable. Sycor’s employees make sure this happens in a wide range of different projects.”

Calm waters in turbulent times.

Especially over the last two years, the team at Sycor’s company headquarters in Göttingen, Germany, have put in an incredible effort to ensure that its business success, innovative capacity and the satisfaction of its customers and employees can be depended on in the future as well.

Internal processes have been streamlined and target sectors and customer profiles honed to this end. Since making these changes, the company’s range of services has focused on the transformation needs of SME customers in the fields of healthcare medtech, and life science as well as in the processing and manufacturing industry.

The facts clearly show that these strategic decisions are making the difference: Following a very successful business year in 2021 in which its turnover increased by over 8 percent to €87.8 million, Sycor is right on course to achieve its targets for 2022 as well. Besides this, it has also received prestigious distinctions as a top employer and leading IT service provider in recent months as well as winning the SAP Innovation and SAP Quality Award.

“And we’re not going to sit back now, either,” says Ahlers. “Looking ahead, we’re going to place an even stronger focus on addressing every area of our customer’s needs in their specific business situation and supporting them accordingly. That’s why we not only offer classical IT consulting now but also our advisory services, which are attracting a lot of interest among customers. Ultimately, it always comes down to working on the big picture together so we can make decisions that are as purpose-driven and far-sighted as possible in the context of digitalization. Projects that come together in an environment like this are fulfilling not just for our customers but also for our own employees.”

Over the next few months, Sycor will also be implementing many specific measures as part of a “cultural compass” so it can continue fostering the good working atmosphere in the company described above and thus remain an attractive place to work for current and prospective employees. “If you’re looking for openness, enthusiasm, and passion in your everyday professional life, this is the place for you,” Lindlar confirms, summing up his own recent experiences as the newly appointed CSO.

25 years of Sycor.

Next year, Sycor – as part of the Ottobock Group – will be celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary. Intensive preparations are already underway for the celebrations to mark this occasion as well as various business events. We’ll be sharing further details in the coming weeks and months.
