Fresh to work: Six graduates and 15 new apprentices start their career with Sycor

The Goettingen-based IT service provider Sycor welcomes 15 young people to the company in the new apprenticeship year and is pleased to be able to offer six graduates a permanent position after successful completion of their exams.

This year, a total of 13 apprentices have completed their training - five of them were able to bring forward their exams by six months and complete their training in January. Among them are three young people at the company's Düsseldorf location. Some of the graduates went straight on to university studies. "The young colleagues have done an excellent job, considering that the school and also the exams were held under very special conditions this year due to the Corona pandemic," says Anna-Maria Schäfer from HR Management, adding: "We are pleased that we were able to inspire many of them to take up permanent employment with our company. The newly qualified IT specialists are now employed as developers or consultants and contribute their knowledge in the areas of SAP or Microsoft, while the office management assistant continues her work in central purchasing after only two years of apprenticeship.

Yagnesh Prajapati and Thang Phuc Dinh are among this year's IT specialists. They have taken on a variety of tasks during their training. For example, Yagnesh Prajapati worked in the Enterprise Content Management department on the installation and configuration of the archiving system, the DMS system and the input management system, was involved in solution development and worked in customer support and consulting. Thang Phuc Dinh, on the other hand, was allowed to create his own software for car rental within the scope of a training course and was also involved in customer projects. What both of them liked about the training at Sycor was the special cooperation within the company. "I especially liked the constant cooperation", says Thang Phuc Dinh and Yagnesh Prajapati adds: "I liked the very good support and the great working atmosphere in my department. I liked being able to perform different tasks in the constantly growing IT area and to attend training courses while I was still in apprenticeship".

Anna-Maria Schäfer will den Fachkräftebedarf auch künftig aus den Anna-Maria Schäfer wants to continue to supplement the demand for skilled workers from within her own ranks. This is why the company has again brought young people into the company this year. 13 of them are pursuing IT apprenticeships, while two others have started their training as office management clerks. This year's onboarding of the young colleagues called for particular creativity in order to comply with the rules of distance and hygiene and still convey a sense of unity. Sycor will further deepen this in the near future through joint project work. Because the company attaches great importance to imparting soft skills or knowledge, for example in marketing, to the apprentices in addition to their specialist knowledge. 

The apprentices participate in the development and implementation of various projects such as the preparation of training fairs, the Sycor.EnjoyIT - programming competition or the Sycor.EnjoyIT - IT youth games. Sycor strives to make its apprenticeship professions more comprehensible with practical work and to make the company itself better known.

  • "What I particularly liked about the apprenticeship was the constant interaction! At no time during the apprenticeship did I have the feeling of being "alone". I was always adequately supervised and there were always enough moments for exchange with other colleagues. At the beginning of the apprenticeship I was allowed to set up my own software for car rental within the framework of a training course. In the following years, I was always available for internal tasks and occasionally for customer projects. For the near future, my focus will be on further training in both technical and consulting aspects. After the apprenticeship I will mainly be involved in customer projects as a developer and will continue my education "

  • "What I particularly liked about the apprenticeship was the good supervision, my flexible working hours, the cross-departmental work, the great working atmosphere and the cooperation with my department. During my apprenticeship I was able to deepen my knowledge by participating in various training courses. During the last three years I was able to take over various tasks within my department Enterprise Content Management, such as the installation and configuration of the archiving system, the DMS system and the input management system, solution development, customer support and consulting. I also want to develop further in the area of Enterprise Content Management, because I really enjoy the digitalization and automation of processes."
