Sycor is a firm believer in hiring young people straight from college so that we can train them in all things Sycor from the very beginning.
Many success stories abound from our forays into the career fair arena. Currently Sycor has 5 employees that we were able to hire from meeting them at a career fair. These employees have flourished exceedingly at Sycor. Additionally, we have hired 11 others who worked with us for a while and moved on to other arenas. And we met countless others at the fairs and invited many of them to interview with us.
Initial career fair attendance was at Robert Morris in Moon Township. We met so many potential employees and interviewed a few. But Sycor’s success at career fairs really happened at Penn State Behrend. The Behrend College, located in Erie, PA, offers the learning opportunities of a major research university in a welcoming, student-centered campus environment.

This event typically draws over 1,000 candidates from Behrend and other area colleges, as well as community job seekers. Employers can recruit for full-time, internship, co-op, part-time, and summer positions, or provide information about their organizations. We were able to connect with students and professionals seeking internships, co-ops, part-time, and full-time positions across various industries and experience levels. Behrend by the numbers: 3,500 students enrolled in Behrend programs on campus and online/39 bachelor's degree programs, 4 associate degree programs, 37 minors, 22 certificate programs, and 4 graduate programs.
Another arena of success was attending the IST Internship & Career Fair at Penn State/University Park, where we also had some success attracting talented potential employees. We worked with the Office of Career Solutions and Corporate Engagement who offer resources, programs, and services to help IST students reach their ultimate career goals. Career Solutions team members help students by answering questions, providing professional guidance, and helping them overcome challenges that are encountered in the internship and full-time job search. Students can access a variety of professional development services, including assistance with resume writing, interview preparation, and professional networking. The office also connects businesses and organizations with IST students through recruiting events, job postings, experiential opportunities, and curricular activities like case studies and course projects. In the Penn State College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST), their goal is to prepare students to become versatile leaders and dependable teammates for the Information Age.
Sycor is fortunate to have benefitted from these programs and from various career fairs over the years.
Sycor Americas will be participating in the Autumn 2025 Career Fair at Penn State.
