In the course of opening its subsidiary in Southeast Asia in April of 2016, automation company Pilz was seeking a flexible SAP implementation partner for its rollout in Singapore. Sycor has been successfully administering the company's online shop for more than three years, and was chosen for the rollout thanks to the local expertise of its own Singapore location.
Pilz is among the world's leading automation technology providers. System solutions from Pilz are used in all areas of mechanical engineering and plant construction, for example in the automobile and packaging industries, and in transportation and logistics. The family-managed company is represented worldwide with 40 subsidiaries and branches. With the newly founded subsidiary Pilz South East Asia, it is establishing structures in order to develop additional sales and service capacities in ASEAN countries in the coming years.
"With the opening of Pilz South East Asia, it was of course clear that we would integrate the new subsidiary into our central SAP ERP system. The finance modules had to be adapted to local conditions within the scope of the template being implemented," is how Dr. Beate Ternberger, Project Manager at Pilz, explains the initial situation. Plans were made to implement SAP ERP including the finance and controlling (FICO), materials management (MM), sales (SD), and eShop modules. G/L accounting (GL), accounts payable (AP), and accounts receivable (AR), as well as asset accounting (AA), also had to be adapted to Singapore law.
In addition to implementing and adapting the modules, Sycor mapped the local and global Pilz chart of accounts for the new subsidiary and adapted all relevant interfaces to the requirements of local banks, without any problems. All master data for suppliers, customers, bank accounts, and cost centers was also set up in cooperation with the Pilz specialists. "I am especially pleased that we were able to realize all requirements on time and on budget!" says Marco Arndt, Managing Director of SYCOR ASIA Pte Ltd. "We seamlessly integrated all of the banks' software tools in order to make the processes as streamlined and efficient as possible."
Detailed training for Pilz's personnel was provided on site after the software implementation. "We are very satisfied with Sycor's work. Not only did their team implement all Pilz requirements, they also prepared training materials and trained the employees in using the new system. Putting the system into operation went smoothly as a result," says Dr. Beate Ternberger in conclusion.
