Donations instead of gifts

SYCOR GmbH is continuing its Christmas donation campaign this year, thereby fulfilling its social responsibility. “We give IT a face” is our slogan – but it also means getting involved for others – showing our face. That is why we are donating a total of €3,000 to the Göttingen newspaper's (Göttinger Tageblatt) “No one should be lonely” campaign.

Active participation as a special feature of the Sycor fundraising campaign

What makes our Christmas campaign special is the participation of our employees in this campaign.

They were able to “earn” the donation amount for a good cause through exercise. Using the “The Good Miles” app, our employees were able to collect kilometers in October by cycling, jogging, or walking. Each kilometer was rewarded with a certain amount and thus converted into donations.

This even led to small competitions between individual employees—including the management—to see who could achieve the top spot in each category in terms of kilometers and thus also in terms of donations collected.

A total of €2,688 was collected in all three categories. The management then rounded up the amount to €3,000.

“As an enthusiastic cyclist, this campaign was a meaningful link between my sporting ambitions and the social responsibility that one has as an entrepreneur in today's world,” said Sycor Managing Director Thomas Ahlers. “When selecting the organization ‘Keiner soll einsam sein’ (No one should be lonely), it was important to us that it promotes togetherness and counteracts loneliness. We were also able to strengthen team spirit internally, which is particularly important for teams that are spread out over a large area.”

No one should be lonely

The Göttinger Tageblatt newspaper's “No one should be lonely” campaign is a Christmas charity initiative that has been running since 1973, supporting people in Göttingen and southern Lower Saxony who are in need or would otherwise be alone at Christmas.

Procedure and traditions

It starts in November with pea soup being served at the Old Town Hall in Göttingen. Celebrities and volunteers serve soup in exchange for donations.

Charity gala at the Deutsches Theater: Artists and well-known personalities perform to raise funds.

Open Christmas Eve: On December 24, there is a public Christmas celebration for anyone who would otherwise be alone.

The campaign thrives on local involvement: churches, associations, companies, and citizens participate through donations, assistance, and events. It is a powerful symbol of solidarity and humanity in the region. And every euro goes directly to a good cause.
